I started out my photography career shooting actor's and model's composites and dabbling in architectural photography. But when I started making children's portraits in 1988, I knew I had found my true passion and I never looked back. I love to shoot kids being kids and then create portraits that layer the whimsy, playfulness, and humor of the kids with traditional portrait mediums. It's my hope that the combination of timeless artistic treatments and the very small, sweet moments I strive to capture create a portrait tthat is at once both universal and deeply personal. In 2003 I began teaching online photography courses at betterphoto.com, and discovered the last piece of the picture to make my artistic life complete.
